OSU Greyhound Health & Wellness Program?

Well, this isn't exactly the post that I had in mind for today.

The last few days have been filled with speculation regarding Dr Couto's ongoing involvement with the  Ohio State Greyhound Health and Wellness Program.

On top of that, new memberships are not being taken for the Program.

Where does this leave us?

I'm not entirely sure.

Three years ago when I started True North Greyhounds, Colby's illness led me to Dr Couto.  It was an easy decision to raise money for such a worthy cause.  Dr Couto and his team were providing research, treatment, and support for Greyhounds with cancer.  Currently, we have chosen to suspend the funds that are going there, until we have concrete information as to what is happening.

The show must go on however.  We are still accepting art work and photos from pro and amateur artists for the 2013 book (info@truenorthgreyhounds.ca).  If Dr Couto does not continue his work elsewhere and if OSU decides to disband the Health and Wellness Program, there are still numerous Greyhound groups that need our help.

I thank you for your continued support of True North Greyhounds and our Retired from Racing, not from Life Art Book.

It's That Time Again

Well, I have to admit.  As much as I love putting this book together, I would prefer to not have to.

Don't get me wrong.  The contributors are awesome and the artwork is beautiful.  I've always been (and always will be) appreciative of the talents that donate the use of their work to this project.

Like everyone on this planet, I wish that cancer was eliminated from my vocabulary.

Hopefully, in the near future, we will talk about cancer like the flu..."No big deal.  I took a few days off  of work.  Spent some time resting.  Popped a couple of vitamin C and drank lots of water".

Until that day, True North Greyhounds will be happily plugging along, doing our small part to help the Greyhound Health & Wellness Program fight and win battles with osteosarcoma.

Please visit our 2013 Art Book Details page.  You'll find the guidelines there for this year's fabulous Art Book.
